Here's breakfast:
1 cup Kellogg's Raisin Bran Crunch - 187 calories
1/2 cup 2% milk - 61 calories (NOTE: Non-Fat Milk is on the next grocery list! Non-fat is almost HALF the calories)
1/2 of yesterday's Smoothie - 70 Calories
TOTAL - 318 Calories
Yesterday's breakfast of two eggs and a granola bar was 360 calories. I think I prefer today's over yesterday's.
A little note about the Kellogg's Raisin Bran Crunch (Again, this blog isn't meant as a testimonial. It is important though to let you know my thoughts about the food I eat and what I think of it) While in Walmart browsing the cereal aisle yesterday, a lady suggested the Raisin Bran Crunch to me. She prefers it as "it stays crunchy in milk". Yes, it did just that. Further, as I've always had sugar on my cereal, the Raisin Bran Crunch has a very light coating of honey. This totally took care of my need for the sweet on the cereal, thus no processed sugar! My vote on this cereal is yes and I look forward to my next bowl.
It was about 1:00 PM when the thought process kicked in with, "Feed me". So, off to the refrigerator I went, with thoughts of last night's left-over chicken. It looked fine, while a beautiful Bartlett pear beckoned to my appetite. The thoughts of the chicken we put on hold and out came the pear, cottage cheese, baby greens and ground cinnamon!
Lunch! Add just a couple sprinkles of the Lite Italian dressing to the greens and we're ready to partake! Here's the breakdown:
1/2 cup 2%, low fat cottage cheese - 90 calories
1 Bartlett Pear (which gives fiber, vitamin C and D, potassium and is fat free - downside some carbs) - calories 112
1/4 cup baby greens - (The huge box contains 35 calories total) - 5 calories
Lite Italian Dressing, 1 teaspoon - 10 calories
1 tablespoon cinnamon - 19 calories
TOTAL Lunch - 236 Calories
As this was SO good, I called our local fruit stand to ask if they still had the pears in stock. They gave the correct answer, so they will be seeing me tomorrow!
As an FYI - this is being written in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California, in case you wonder why a fruit stand is open in the dead of winter. We are fortunate here to have these stands open year round. It's my wish that you all have access to good fresh fruits and vegetables. Most grocery stores will carry what you see in this blog.
UH OH! First stumbling block! But I didn't fall down. Part of my job entails making many, many phone calls now and then. Today was just one of those days. As I started the dialing madness, the munchies attacked. I fought back with an allowable snack. Red seedless grapes!
1 cup Red Seedless Grapes - 110 Calories
There was still a little desire hanging around, so a glass of ice water was in order. That also helped get me over the hump!
Dinnertime arrived and with just a little creativity, I came up with a plan for last night's leftover chicken, mushrooms and zucchini. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had purchased the Ninja Master Prep, so decided to try out the food processor. I put all the leftover chicken, etc. into that whirling machine with the sharp blades and give the food a blast. Within seconds it became a chicken salad which I enjoyed on a bed of baby greens.
Check out the photo of this great little kitchen appliance:
When I purchased it at Walmart, I paid $34.00. Here's a link to where you can get it for only $30.95! And for those Amazon Prime members, you won't have to even pay shipping!
I figure the calories for the left-over chicken salad to be about 200 as it was about half of the total of yesterday's calories.
Total Calories for the day - 864!
Leaves room for a little raspberry Greek Yogurt later this evening and my usual White Zinfandel! Making progress! YAY!

Love it! I really like how you're detailing your meals and calories!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive input! This is helping me stick with the program. Holds me "accountable" so to speak. (Even though I slipped a little last night) See my next blog. Thanks again!
