Day 7 - Venturing Out - First Day of Eating Out While On My New Program!

Alright - Today is the day! Off to town to meet a friend and enjoy her company while we partake of the fare at a local restaurant. The place is a hamburger place. I just looked up calories in their buns - no bun for me today. Then looked up the calories in ground beef! OH MY! 1,500 calories in one pound of ground beef. I'm sure their burgers are about 1/4 pound, so I'll do burger in a bowl. Which is basically salad with the burger thrown in. We definitely picked the wrong pace to eat. No wonder their burgers taste so good!

I was a GOOD GIRL! Yay! I did the burger in the bowl. They also brought red potatoes and I was good and totally IGNORED them. Brought them home to give to my friend who came to visit this evening. AND the burger in the bowl was actually great! Totaled up the calories of all that was in the burger in a bowl salad and it showed 540. Not bad.

Before I get on to what happened for dinner, you all probably wonder what I've been drinking - not, not like "What the heck have you been drinking?!?" But more like, "Don't you ever get iced tea, or drink coffee in the morning?" And my answer is no. I drink ice water. I HATE paying the exorbitant rates restaurants charge for their beverages, And I'm intolerant to caffeine, so drink water. I mentioned that V8 earlier this week, but keep forgetting to have one - probably better off anyway due to the sodium content and I do know that low sodium V8 doesn't suit my taste buds.

Back to today's progress. A friend of mine came by for an early evening of snacks and a movie. Below are the photos of the items I put on the table:

We've got shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon with honey mustard rosemary sauce, crackers and apples. I refrained from most, except for the smoked salmon with the sauce with crackers and my, oh my is it good and the calories are really quite acceptable. She enjoyed all that you see above. Note also that shrimp is very diet friendly and there's quite a bit of that left so you'll be seeing that in a spinach salad in the next few days!

I didn't mention breakfast at the beginning of this post. Breakfast was once again the Raisin Bran Crunch.

Below are my totals for calories for the day (not including my wine that I'm enjoying as I write this.)

Breakfast - 248 Calories
Lunch - 540 Calories
Dinner/Appetizers - 200 Calories

TOTAL - 988 Calories before Wine ;-)

Moving right along - onward and downward with the pounds! Can't wait to weigh in on Monday! I'll report in tomorrow too.
