Day 8 - Moving Forward, Learning and Tomorrow is WEIGH IN DAY!

Today started out with what seems to be my usual right now, the Raisin Bran Crunch which I like so much! 250 Calories

Then I got busy making the Chicken (NOT Noodle), but Cabbage Soup. A couple of days ago, we did our best to count calories in making the soup. Figured around 400 calories in the six cups of ingredients we were using. So each one cup serving will be around 66 calories. That's a great deal!

Item of note: The vegetables for this soup were purchased at Smart and Final Extra! store. I'm really not excited about their produce. The celery seemed a bit old, but ok. The choices of carrots were limited. Although I wasn't in the market for corn, I saw the corn presented and it appeared very old, the shucks were whitish and dry-looking. When it comes to produce, I'm going to have to choose a different grocery store.

As to the carrots, I decided to put them into my Ninja instead of chop them by hand. It may have been one pulse too many, but they turned out fine and it saved some time.

Here's the soup cooking on the stove!

Another note about the soup - even with added salt and pepper and still the taste-test proved a little bland. Sage and Italian seasoning were added. That helped spice it up a bit, At the beginning four cloves of minced garlic was also added which wasn't in the ingredient list in yesterday's blog. The spices helped a lot!

Lunch ended up being a repeat of the pear and cottage cheese with cinnamon, without the salad this time. Calories - 221

Mid afternoon snack time came calling and Tillamook Farmstyle Greek Raspberry yogurt was the snack of choice. Bleck. Kind of like eating cold wet raspberry chalk. Just my opinion. The container says it contains 140 calories. I only ate half of it and tossed the rest down the drain. (Sorry Tillamook - as much as I love your cheese, your yogurt doesn't cut it here.) (note - all Tillamook cheese has departed the house due to 110 calories per slice! YAY, no more temptation there.) Calories - 70

Dinner - Chicken Cabbage Soup - 2 cups - 132 calories plus 10 for 1 tablespoon parmesan.

Turned out pretty good. After it all, a tablespoon of Parmesan Cheese gave it a little more flavor. The 10 calories of Parmesan is a great substitute for the 220 calories of noodles.

And look who has gotten in on dinner once again, That peacock sure knows how to get around!

Total calories for the day - 613 Not bad! Running under the allowable calorie count all week. Tomorrow is the big weigh-in day. The weight loss will tell the tale. Oh, I sure hope all this is going to pay off!

See you tomorrow with the big news!
